These are the first and only spy photos of Nissan's flagship SUV. The snaps are speculated as having been taken during an official presentation of the vehicle.
The newcomer hints at the Nissan Terranaut Concept from the 2006 Geneva Motor Show. The SUV has clearly been designed for the EU market so curvy styling, LED rear lights will put it directly in competition with Toyota's popular Land Cruiser V8 in Europe.
2 petrol engines will be available; a 4.0 litre V6 and 4.8 litre V8 naturally-aspirated engine as well as a 3.0 litre V6 diesel engine, developed jointly with Renault. The 3.0 litre longitudinally-mounted diesel engine is expected to have around 265bhp and 405lb-ft of torque. In the UK, the 3.0 litre V6 diesel will be offered and will be the best seller. The current Patrol has aged heavily and equates to poor sales.
U.S sales are likely where the Patrol could replace the aging Nissan Armada/Infiniti QX56. European sales should kick off mid-2009.
Check out the second picture, where you can see the Toyota LC through the front passengers window.
